Stop Smoking Program

 

The majority of smokers believe that quitting smoking is one of the hardest things they will ever do in their life. Many have tried on their own to quit and failed, talked with their friends, and helped others to believe that it is really very difficult. As prominent as the information is concerning the dangers of smoking, so is the belief that quitting smoking is the hardest thing a smoker could do in his or her life!

 

But what if it really was easy to quit smoking even though the common belief is that it is not? What if the truth was that a person could quit smoking without suffering or feeling the withdrawal symptoms and missing the activity of the "habit" of smoking? Many times the difference between the truth and the belief is simply how we choose to think about it.

 

I was smoking 2 packs a day as a normal course and sometimes I would throw in an extra pack if I was partying or out with the boys. I had the "smoker's cough" and often felt my lungs were tight but I had to have another cigarette regardless. My fingertips were yellow, my house smelled of smoke, and so did my clothes. I was a heavy smoker!

 

I tried the patches and gum at $300 to $400 a whack but I still missed smoking and just ended up going to the store for a pack of cigarettes and throwing the medication in the trash. But I knew I had to quit but my will power just did not seem strong enough and I needed help.

 

I stumbled upon a website one night on the Internet that claimed I could quit smoking today. The information was very compelling and it made a lot of sense…sounded like it was just the thing for me. But you know how it is, I was skeptical about buying things on the Internet and didn't want to get caught in an online scam. But then I thought about it and realized that I had already spent lots of money on the patches and gum that didn't work. This stop smoking program was far less in cost so I bit the bullet and bought it!

 

The course was called Neuro-Linguistic Programming or NLP and it is a form of hypnosis. Well, this was 8 months ago and I have not had a cigarette since. All I did was download the program and listen to a recording once a day for a week and now I am totally free of any desire of smoking. I am quit for life!

 

The reason why hypnotherapy and NLP are so successful is because our habits and beliefs reside in our subconscious minds. So the belief that quitting smoking is difficult and the habit of smoking are indwelled in our powerful subconscious mind, even though we consciously want to quit.

 

When we first started smoking, we probably thought that it made us cool, calm, and relaxed and at first it actually did make us feel better; especially when we were in stressful situations. We already knew from our friends that quitting would be very difficult and the first few cigarettes planted both the confirmation that "smoking made us feel better" and "quitting was difficult" into our subconscious minds. Add to that the fact that habits are formed in the subconscious and that nicotine is addictive - we were hooked or hypnotized into this addiction.

 

So after many years and thousands of cigarettes, we have re-enforced the habit and trained the subconscious mind to believe that quitting was difficult and that smoking made us feel good and made us more confident and relaxed.

 

NLP allows us to retrain our subconscious mind to disregard these false beliefs about smoking and how hard it is to quit. It does not just negate those beliefs but it replaces them with beliefs that not smoking is more exciting and fulfilling and that we will feel absolutely fantastic!

 

Thus the common withdrawal symptoms of irritability, mood swings and cravings, and all the other things that cause people to fail to quit smoking, are replaced with feelings of improved self confidence, relaxation, and overall happiness.

 

Does NLP work for everybody? Unfortunately, it only works on 97.2% of the people who try it but thank God I was included in that majority! The bonus is that the cost of this program was nothing compared to other methods and it really worked! Not to mention the savings I realized by not buying any more cigarettes this program actually saved me a lot of money!
